Kick-Off Meeting and First User Community Conference, February 2008

The European University Institute in Florence hosted the kick-off meeting and the First User Community Conference of the PIREDEU Design Study from 20 to 23 February 2008. Almost 50 participants, either PIREDEU Consortium partners or representatives from the PIREDEU User Community, took part in the event.

The concrete details of the design study were discussed, and responsibilities were assigned for the work in each of the different study teams and for producing the study output. In addition, the PIREDEU user community was invited to propose areas of research to address with the data that will be collected within this design study. This will be followed up and expanded by the PIREDEU Open Forum on this website.

Following the kick-off conference a report will be drafted, in which the responsibilities are demarcated and methods for establishing membership of the user community recommended. This report will constitute the detailed work plan for the first 12 to 15 months of the design study.
