Public Release of Data

The PIREDEU Steering Committee, at its meeting on 9 September 2009, approved the following plan for the public release of the data:

The public pre-release of the data from the different data collection teams is made by 'user beware' versions of the data. Certain restrictions apply to the various components. The 'user beware' versions are available for download after registration. The data is documented, however the complete documentation will be finalised only at a later stage.

1. Voter Survey (second pre-release)

An update of the 'user beware' version was made available on 23 June 2011. Contrary to the first pre-release of April 2010, this update now include certains questions which were co-funded by a ESRC separate grant for the project "Perceptions of Power:Voter Attribution of Responsibility within the European Union".

2. Candidate Survey

The 'user beware' version was made available on 28 July 2010. This version is a stripped version due to data protection issues concerning the anonymity of respondents. The full data set can be requested by submitting an application form (subject to the written authorisation of the Candidate Survey Team Leader). Details are provided in the Data Centre. An update of this version was made available on 23 June 2011, which corrects one small error in the data set.

3. Media Study

The 'user beware' version was made available on 16 April 2010.

4. Manifesto Study

The 'user beware' version was made available on 16 April 2010, a version B was uploaded on 28 July 2010. The version contains full documentation as well as reliability measures.

5. Contextual Data

The 'user beware' version was made available on 19 May 2010. In addition to the data file and codebook, a pdf collection of electoral laws of all 27 Member States (in original and many times also in English language) has been uploaded on 28 July 2010.

The final release of the data is foreseen for Winter 2011/12.
