Biographical Note:
Hermann Schmitt holds a PhD in political science from the University of Duisburg and a venia legendi for political science from the Free University of Berlin. In addition to Mannheim, Duisburg and Berlin, he has taught at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, at Science Po in Paris, the ANU in Canberra, the IAS in Vienna, and the CEU in Budapest. He has been involved in several cross-national comparative studies (BIG, ICORE, CSES, CONNEX, INTUNE, CCS). Most importantly in this context, he has been the co-ordinator of the European Election Studies since 1987. He has published widely on comparative electoral behaviour, public opinion, and European integration. He will be a member of the Steering Committee, chair the elite team, direct the manifestos analysis, and contribute to the voters study.
