Biographical Note:
Mark Franklin, Stein Rokkan Professor of Comparative Politics at the EUI, is a past Guggenheim Fellow and Fulbright Scholar. He founded the Public Opinion and Participation Section of the European Union Studies Association, has been a Director of the European Election Studies project since 1987, and has served on the Advisory Boards of British and French Election Studies and on the user panel for the American National Election Study. He is a past or present member of the editorial boards of, among others, Comparative European Politics, Electoral Studies, the European Journal of Political Research, and the Journal of Elections Public Opinion and Parties. He has published several books in the field of electoral studies and over a hundred articles, many of them in leading US and European journals. His present research focuses on the evolution of party systems and party support in Europe and elsewhere.
