Location: University of Twente | I suggest to rephrase the statements about institutional effectiveness. In particular, in my view references to the respondent should not be in the statements. For example, the statement should not read "It is very important for you which particular political party gained the most seats in the European Parliament elections", but "It is very important which particular political party gained the most seats in the European Parliament elections". Similarly, the other statements would be something like "The institutions of the European Union can be trusted" instead of "You trust the institutions of the European Union". (Here I neglect the question whether such statements as such are valuable, merely focusing on question format). (See also my earlier comment about question format for agree-disagree items, because in the draft questionnaire the question format does not link up with the answer categories, since this is a five-point scale but the stem question only mentions the labels of both end-points.) |
